...so the plan was to move on from teaching to working on setting up Graham's Orkney Tours. But news travels fast in Orkney. No sooner had I stowed away the tools of the trade-for me that consists of my teacher planner, silk ties, joke book and karaoke machine-then my phone started ringing and I took a call from the Head teacher of Westray Junior High! I must confess that I had already received a tip-off that he was going to contact me to see if I could do some supply teaching and had prepared my response which was to say 'thanks, but no thanks'. Well let's just say that his charm offensive was very effective and one minute later, I said "YES"!
I have no regrets- everyone in the community has been so welcoming. Possible highlight? One of my classes gave me a round of applause after singing "Country Roads" to them!!
